Town, Village and Park
Wimbledon is really three places. The town centre is around the station and the Broadway, with the Centre Court shopping centre and the New Wimbledon Theatre. Up Wimbledon Hill Road is the Village, with its restaurants and the edge of Wimbledon Common. To the north, Wimbledon Park surrounds the lake and the All England Club. When you book a minicab in Wimbledon, tell us which area you are in so the driver can take the best way in.
The Championships and busy days
For two weeks every summer, the tennis changes Wimbledon completely. Roads around the All England Club are closed or restricted, the station is packed, and traffic is heavy. We still run during the Championships, but journeys take longer and drivers may need to set you down further from the grounds than usual. Please book early and allow extra time. The same applies, to a lesser extent, on busy theatre nights on the Broadway.
Wimbledon station connections
Wimbledon station is a hub in its own right, with fast trains to Waterloo, the District line, Thameslink and trams to Croydon. Many people book a car from Wimbledon to catch a train further into town, such as our Waterloo station taxi, or to get home late when the connection back to Sutton or Morden has finished.
Airports from Wimbledon
Wimbledon is a good starting point for Heathrow, which is reached through Kingston or via the A3 and M25. Gatwick is to the south via Sutton. For London City and the eastern airports, see London City. Guests staying in hotels around Wimbledon can use our hotel transfer taxi.
Groups and evenings out
Wimbledon's restaurants and theatre attract groups from across south-west London. A 6 seater or 7 seater taxi lets everyone arrive together and get home safely at the end of the night.
Weddings, venues and match days
Wimbledon hosts plenty of weddings and parties, at venues such as Cannizaro House on the edge of the Common and the restaurants in the Village. For events, give us the venue address, the time guests need to arrive and a rough finishing time, and we can arrange cars for the evening. On match days, the roads around AFC Wimbledon's ground on Plough Lane get busy before and after the game, so allow extra time or ask the driver to meet you a short walk away from the stadium.
Neighbouring areas
From Wimbledon we also cover Raynes Park to the west, Merton Park to the south-east and Colliers Wood to the east. See our areas we cover page for more.
