The A217 all the way to Gatwick
There is a neat fact about living in Rosehill: the A217 that runs past the Rose Hill roundabout as Reigate Avenue is the same road that finishes at the northern edge of Gatwick. Drivers can follow it south through Belmont, Banstead and over Reigate Hill. The other choice is to leave it at junction 8 of the M25, head east to junction 7 and take the M23 down to the airport. The motorway is usually faster; the A217 is a useful fallback when the M25 is closed or crawling.
North Terminal or South Terminal?
Gatwick has two terminals, linked by a free shuttle train that takes a couple of minutes. Airlines use one or the other, and some change terminal from time to time, so check your booking before you travel. If you tell us your flight number, we will make sure you are dropped at the right door.
Drop-off and pickup at Gatwick
Like Heathrow, Gatwick charges for vehicles using the drop-off zones outside its terminals, and the fee has risen several times in recent years. We will explain when you book whether it is included in your fare. For pickups, your driver parks in the terminal car park. With meet and greet they will be waiting in the arrivals area with your name. Otherwise they will phone you once you have your bags.
Early flights and summer holidays
Gatwick is busiest with holiday flights, many of them leaving very early in the morning. In the school holidays, the security queues can be long, so allow plenty of time. We run all night, so a 3am pickup in Rosehill is no problem, but please book at least a day ahead for early starts. Families should mention child seats and pushchairs when they book, and larger groups can travel together in a 6 seater or 7 seater taxi.
Gatwick taxi or the train from Sutton?
You can reach Gatwick by train from Sutton, but it usually means at least one change. That works well for a single traveller with light luggage. For a family with cases, an early flight before the trains start, or a late-night return, a Gatwick taxi from Rosehill takes you door to door without the changes.
Taxi or airport parking?
Driving yourself to Gatwick and leaving the car in an airport car park can seem easier, but for a week or two away, the parking charges add up quickly, and you still have the shuttle bus at each end.
