The High Street and the Wandle
Colliers Wood is built along the A24 between South Wimbledon and Tooting. The Northern line station is at its centre, and the retail parks lie on the banks of the River Wandle, a short walk to the west. Merton Abbey Mills, the old riverside craft market, is next to them. The A24 is a busy main road, so if you are being collected from a side road, give us the full address so the driver does not stop on a red route.
Getting into town
Colliers Wood is on the Northern line, which is often the fastest way into central London. A car makes more sense with luggage, late at night, or when the line is disrupted. The A24 runs straight north from Colliers Wood through Tooting and Clapham, making our Victoria and London Bridge station taxis direct runs. For trains to the North, see our King's Cross station taxi.
Shopping trips and hospital visits
We regularly take people to and from the retail parks with bulky shopping, which is much easier in a car than on the bus. St George's Hospital in Tooting is just up the road, and we often drive patients and visitors there. If you have a lot to carry, an estate car or a 6 seater may be a better choice than a saloon.
Airports from Colliers Wood
From Colliers Wood, Gatwick is usually reached south via Morden and Sutton. Heathrow is to the west through Wimbledon and Kingston, and London City Airport is across south London to the east. For larger groups, try a 7 seater taxi.
The Wandle Trail and Merton Abbey Mills
The Wandle Trail follows the river through Colliers Wood on its way from Croydon to the Thames at Wandsworth, and it is popular with walkers and cyclists. Merton Abbey Mills, beside the river, has restaurants, a pub and small shops in old mill buildings. If you have walked one way along the trail, we can collect you at the other end and bring you home. Tell us the nearest road so the driver can find you easily.
Evenings out and journeys home
Colliers Wood is a short drive from the restaurants and bars of Tooting and Wimbledon. For the trip home, book a pickup time in advance or call the office when you are ready. Because the A24 is a red route, the driver will usually meet you on a side road nearby, and we will tell you where before you step outside.
